Abstract

Objective: To provide information on surgical cases of Soft Tissue Sarcoma (SPM) treated in an oncology reference hospital in the city of Maringá-PR, evaluating incidence rates by gender, age, histological types, most frequent sites of involvement, analysis of survival, cases of recurrence and metastasis. Methods: Patients treated surgically for PCS were analyzed, the data found were collected from medical records in the Maringá Cancer Hospital database and recorded in the Microsoft Excel database. Results: The sample presented the most common histological types liposarcoma (27.27%) and leiomyosarcoma (15.15%). Mainly affecting the lower limb (24.28%) and retroperitoneum (21.42%). The majority had a high histological grade (64%), and FNLCC grade III (51.52%), with the average size of these tumors being 7.72 centimeters. The majority of patients were treated with isolated surgery (39.39%), reaching an overall status of patients alive without disease of 66.67% and less than half of metastatic patients (42%) died. Conclusion: The results found are in line with literature data, and also show a lower death rate and greater treatment effectiveness when compared to other studies.
