Abstract

Objective: To analyze the literature on home nursing care in nutritional therapy for elderly patients after a Stroke. Methods: An integrative review was conducted with searches and selection in the LILACS, IBECS, MEDLINE, and BDENF databases. Seven primary studies were included, focusing on Stroke as the main problem, Enteral Nutritional Therapy as the area of interest, and Nursing Care as the context, with no time or language restrictions. Descriptive methods were used for data analysis and knowledge synthesis. Results: The main aspects highlighted in this area were the care related to the placement and fixation of the device. Additionally, the indications and advantages of its use compared to other feeding methods were discussed. The clinical benefits of the device, the associated challenges and risks, and the need for professional support to ensure care is structured with quality, safety, and efficiency were also identified. Conclusion: Despite the limitations in advancements, home nursing care in enteral nutrition stands out as a valuable and relevant approach to reducing complications and adverse events in elderly patients who have suffered a Stroke.
