Abstract

Objective: Evaluate the quality and scientific accuracy of Brazilian prostate cancer videos on a globally recognized video platform. Methods: The 100 most viewed videos were selected using the search term "Prostate Cancer". The videos were analyzed for the number of views, likes, and comments. Scientific quality was measured using the DISCERN and JAMA scoring systems. After screening, the final sample included 81 videos, with an average duration of 6.15 minutes, totaling approximately 1,320,853 views, 25,421 likes, and 379 comments. It is worth emphasizing that of the initial sample, 16% of the videos did not address prostate cancer and were excluded. Results: A positive correlation was observed between the DISCERN and JAMA systems in the evaluation of scientific accuracy. However, no significant correlations were observed between the quality scores and variables such as video length, number of views, likes, or comments. Conclusion: It is concluded that most of the prostate cancer videos  present unsatisfactory scientific quality, reinforcing the need for more reliable content for the dissemination of health information.
