Abstract

Objective: To identify how teaching and research were presented in the face of the management of the pandemic crisis in a general hospital. Methods: Descriptive-exploratory study, with a qualitative approach, conducted with 42 professionals from the care and management of a general hospital, located in the capital of Paraná. For the collection, a script with open questions was used in the form of a video-audio-recorded interview using the online tool Microsoft Teams, from June 2022 to February 2023. The data, later transcribed, were organized in light of the Categorical Thematic Content Analysis. The study was approved by the Research Ethics Committee. Results: Of the total, the majority were female (73.8%), aged 45 to 54 years old (42.86%), with a working time of 5 to 10 years (54%), and more than 5 years (62%) in the role during the pandemic period. Two categories of analysis were listed, namely: Conceptions about teaching in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic and Conceptions about research in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic. Final considerations: It was identified that both teaching and research were impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic, thus highlighting their importance conceived as an important part of crisis management in a hospital setting.
