Abstract

Objective: Analyzing the use of SGLT2i and arGLP1 in CVD. Methods: It is an integrative literature review conducted in the MEDLINE and LILACS databases via BVS and SciELO, held from February to May 2024 with the following search strategy: ("Cardiovascular Diseases" OR "Heart Failure" OR "Coronary Artery Disease") AND ((Glucagon-Like Peptide 2) AND (Sodium-Glucose Transporter 2 Inhibitors)). Results: 570 articles were found, which after the application of the inclusion and exclusion criteria, and double-blind analysis resulted in a final corpus of 22 articles. The results showed that SGLT2i reduces hospitalization due to heart failure, and arGLP1 is associated with a lower risk of unstable angina and acute myocardial infarction when compared to SGLT2i. Both classes reduce all-cause mortality, risk of major adverse cardiovascular effects, and when used concurrently, also demonstrate a beneficial cardiometabolic effect. Final considerations: Given the above, it is evident that both classes have cardioprotective effects and the results obtained in the study may contribute to evidence-based clinical practice.
