Abstract
Objective: To measure the effect of the Computer-Based Auditory Training (CBT) protocol on the behavioral auditory skills of Central Auditory Processing and on the parents' perception of auditory behavior in a child diagnosed with Central Auditory Processing Disorder (CAPD), in addition to investigating the use of Frequency Following Response (FFR) as a biomarker of therapeutic evolution. Case details: Case study of a seven-year-old female child, with pure tone hearing thresholds within normal limits, diagnosed with CAPD and without previously diagnosed neurological alterations. Research procedures: general anamnesis, visual inspection of the external auditory canal, pure tone audiometry, speech audiometry, acoustic immittance measurements, brief behavioral assessment of central auditory processing, application of the Auditory Processing Domains Questionnaire (APDQ) and recording and analysis of the FFR. The child received the intervention through CAT. It was possible to measure the effect of the intervention on behavioral auditory skills, as well as on the neural coding of speech, with a decrease in latencies and an increase in the amplitude of some FFR components. Final considerations: CAT improved performance in auditory skills of the CAP, without impacting parental perception, and the FFR showed promise as a biomarker.
