Abstract
Objective: To map the educational strategies carried out by Primary Health Care professionals that influence food choices and adherence to nutritional treatment in individuals with diabetes mellitus. Methods: Scope review with electronic search in the MedLine databases via PubMed, Food Science and Technology Abstracts, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature, Virtual Health Library, Scopus, Science Direct, Cochrane Library, and gray literature, in June 2024. The process was guided by the methodology proposed by JBI and the PRISMA-ScR guidelines, and was carried out independently by two reviewers, with the aid of a reference manager. Results: A total of 1,094 titles were identified and, after applying the inclusion criteria, 18 studies published between 2002 and 2024 remained. The studies included were qualitative, mixed methods, experimental, quasi-experimental and systematic reviews. The information was grouped in a table with a qualitative outcome. Final considerations: Educational strategies, with an emphasis on group activities incorporated into primary health care, will contribute to the knowledge, self-management, and skills necessary for diabetes control.
