Abstract
Objective: To identify the nursing team's knowledge regarding the main transfusion reactions. Methods: A cross-sectional, descriptive study with a quantitative approach, conducted with nursing professionals over 18 years of age, of both sexes. Data collection occurred remotely through an electronic questionnaire provided in an online environment and disseminated via social media and email. Results: 84 professionals participated in the study, with an average age of 36 years, predominantly female and from the professional category of nurses, with professional experience between one and ten years. Regarding experience in the area of blood component transfusion, the majority reported never having worked in hemotherapy services, although a large portion had received some type of training on transfusion. The professionals reported performing the installation, monitoring, and follow-up of transfusions, as well as having provided assistance to patients who presented transfusion reactions at some point in their professional practice. Conclusion: Transfusion therapy is a complex process that requires properly trained professionals. It was observed that the nursing team presented satisfactory knowledge about the main signs and symptoms of transfusion reactions; however, the importance of conducting periodic training for updating and strengthening safe practice is emphasized.
