Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the impact of hysterectomy with salpingectomy on ovarian function and postoperative hormone levels. Methods: This is an integrative review, conducted in the Medline (PubMed) and Virtual Health Library (VHL) databases, including studies in the last 10 years, in Portuguese, English, and Spanish. Comparative studies, randomized controlled clinical trials, observational studies, meta-analyses, and systematic reviews addressing the effects of hysterectomy with or without salpingectomy on ovarian function were included. Results: 119 articles were identified in the PubMed and VHL databases, and 21 studies were selected after screening and full reading. These studies analyzed hysterectomized patients with or without salpingectomy and the relationship with outcomes in ovarian function, AMH, FSH, Luteinizing Hormone, and Inhibin B levels. Final considerations: Hysterectomy with salpingectomy appears to be a safe procedure regarding ovarian function in the short term, showing no significant hormonal changes in most studies. However, there is still evidence of possible reduction in ovarian reserve and anticipation of menopause in certain groups, especially when there is greater surgical manipulation. Thus, caution is recommended in performing the procedures, and studies with longer follow-up periods are needed to clarify the long-term effects and better guide practice.
