Abstract

Objective: To analyze the implications of burnout on the mental health of nurses and to identify coping strategies. Methods: An integrative literature review following rigorous steps, ranging from defining the topic and selection criteria to analyzing and synthesizing the results. The selection covered full-text scientific articles published between January 2015 and March 2025 in Portuguese, English, and Spanish, sourced from the SciELO, Virtual Health Library (VHL/BVS), MEDLINE/PubMed, LILACS, and BDENF databases. Results: Analysis of the studies included in this review provided a broader understanding of the repercussions of burnout syndrome among nurses working in mental health services, particularly in Psychosocial Care Centers (CAPS). Overall, the findings indicate that emotional exhaustion stands out as the most frequent dimension among these professionals, directly associated with working conditions and the emotional demands inherent to providing care. Final considerations: It can be concluded that burnout syndrome among nurses working in Psychosocial Care Centers is primarily associated with emotional exhaustion, excessive workload, and inadequate organizational conditions, negatively impacting both the professionals' mental health and the quality of care provided.
