Abstract

Objective: To highlight, review, and analyze the evidence on the main maternal factors associated with Recurrent Pregnancy Loss (RPL), aiming to contribute to clinical practice. Methods: A integrative review was conducted in the PubMed and BVS databases, using the descriptors “recurrent miscarriage” and “causes”, combined with the Boolean operator “AND”. The study included articles published in the last three years (2022–2025), as well as randomized controlled trials and observational studies. Articles that did not address spontaneous pregnancy or that were restricted to specific populations were excluded, resulting in a total of 34 articles. Results: Recurrent miscarriage encompasses distinct etiologies. More than 60% of the studies addressed genetic mutations or abnormalities related to the female reproductive system. Other causes included endocrine disorders, lifestyle factors, coagulation disorders, infections, and exposure to toxic substances. Final considerations: Prenatal care is of great importance in identifying these factors and preventing recurrent pregnancy loss, ensuring both physical health and the emotional well-being of women.
