Abstract
Objective: To determine the profile of low back pain in pregnant women in the city of Coari-Amazonas. Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted with 79 women in the 12th to 36th weeks gestational age with complaints of low back pain. Pain intensity was assessed by visual pain scale (VAS). The "Owestry Disability Questionnaire" was applied. The correlation between gestational age and pain intensity was analyzed by Pearson correlation, accepting p ≤ 0.05. Results: 38.96% felt lumbar / pelvic pain before gestation and 7.79% used pain medicine. The region of pain was prevalent in the sacroiliac region (39.24%). The moderate intensity of pain represented 70.13% of the public. Pain was reported as restrictive for walking (66.67%), standing (56.00%) and lifting objects (42.67%). Pain intensity correlated with gestational age (r=0.239/p=0.039). Conclusion: Low back pain was characterized with varying degrees of intensity during pregnancy and is a limiting factor for activities. The findings show a positive correlation between pain intensity and gestational age.
