Abstract
Objective: To report the experience of health education actions with elderly men experienced in the extension project Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (UFPE) in the square, in a municipality in Pernambuco. Experience report: The UFPE na Praça extension project focuses on health promotion and disease prevention in groups of people who attend the square and the Basic Health Unit (UBS) in a neighborhood. The users who participate in the actions are, in their majority, elderly men who regularly attend the square, actively participating in the interventions, interposing comments and bringing empirical knowledge that enrich and add value to them. The participating male audience has functioned as knowledge multiplier agents in the face of what they learn in the project, and in this way they contribute to increasing the reach of actions, transforming the reality of a group, family and community. Final considerations: Educational activities, active listening and discussions, used in the project, can be inserted in Primary Care to encourage the use of this service by men.
