Abstract

Objective: To review and reflect on the attitude of the health professional who provides assistance, at the level of primary care, to victims of gender violence. Bibliographic review: Gender violence is a social phenomenon that arises from inequalities between the sexes and causes physical, mental and sexual illness, being considered a public health problem. Their main ones are women and they often seek the services of Primary Care for care. These, however, are not very resolvable due to the gaps in academic training and the low qualification of its professionals on the subject. Final considerations: An unprepared posture, not critical and stereotyped by common sense about this phenomenon contributes to the weakening of assistance and disqualification of humanized care. Thus, it is necessary to build new studies, improvement programs and continuing education so that health professionals are sensitized and prepared to deal with the victims of gender-based violence.
