Abstract
Objective: Compare the effectiveness of the Transobturatory sling with Retropubic sling in the treatment of female stress urinary incontinence. Methods: This is a systematic review w containing primary studies with randomized trials (RCTs), published in English / Portuguese. The electronic databases were COCHRANE, Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS), PubMed Central (PMC) / Medical Literature Analysis and Retrievel System Online (Medline) and Scientific Electronic Library Online (Scielo). Results: This review evaluated the studies that compared the effectiveness of the two types of suburethral slings in the last five years, evaluating the cure rate, complications and quality of life after treatment. The selected articles were selected by two independent reviewers and, when necessary, a third reviewer was consulted. Initially, from the titles and abstracts and, in another step, by reading and identifying the inclusion criteria, including the acronym “PICOS” Population, Intervention, Comparator, Outcomes, Study). The retropubic sling has a high cure rate for stress urinary incontinences. The transobturatory sling has less urinary retention, less risk of bladder perforation and hematoma. Final considerations: Most authors define the superior efficacy of the retropubic sling approach in urogenital surgical procedures of SUI compared to the transobturatory approach.
