Abstract

This abstract aims to elucidate the main patient stressors present in the ICU(Intensive Care Unit) and propose effective mesures that nurses can take in order to solving them. Therefore, a bibliographical review with integrating approach was made. To subsidize the research, Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde(BVS) Literatura Latino-americana em Ciências da Saúde (LILACS), Biblioteca Científica e Virtual em Linha (SCIELO), thesis and articles in Capes' Thesis Database, newspaper articles documented from November 9 to December 9 at Centro Universitário Padre Anchieta and Biblioteca Nelson Foot- which are located in Jundiaí, were used as resources. Some researches counted as evidence VI, summaries and editorials were used as precluding criterion. In surveys, majority of patients related fear, long period of family absence, lack of autonomy, noises and pain, lack of informaion given by the medical team and nurses about their health condition. Nurses' contribution in administrative mesures and the elaboration of an assictence plan for stress reduction in ICU patients is extremely important to better one's emotional and physical conditions.
