Abstract
In recent years, there has been a steady increase in the incidence of acute pancreatitis in very justified by the high consumption of alcohol and increase in cases of biliary pancreatitis in an increasingly obese and elderly population. Thus, it becomes necessary to provide early and comprehensive approach in acute pancreatitis, aiming at determining etiology, severity assessment using clinical criteria, clinical and physiologic scoring systems, biochemical markers and imaging methods, and appropriate treatment. Through these measures we seek to reduce the morbidity and mortality of this disease so variable course.
