Abstract
Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the relationship of the Quality of Life (QoL) of the caregivers of patients with Alzheimer's Disease (AD) with the family socioeconomic profile and the severity of dementia. Methods: This is a quantitative research, of the analytical type, carried out in a Brazilian municipality of southeastern Pará state. The analysis was based on the simple linear regression between the caregiver's QOL and socioeconomic status and severity of dementia. Results: A total of 24 caregivers were included in the study according to inclusion criteria, 83% female and 17% male, aged 41-59 years, equivalent to 66%. Being 66% children, 33.3% were low income inferred, and 58.3% were low income higher and only 8.3% lower. Final considerations: The analysis showed a moderate relationship between caregiver QoL and socioeconomic status, and a strong relationship between QoL and the degree of dementia. This relationship directly interferes with the care given to the family member with AD.
