Resumen
Objetivo: Describir la importancia de la prótesis inmediata sobre implantes para mejorar la calidad de vida del individuo. Revisión bibliográfica: Las restauraciones sobre implantes consisten en dientes artificiales adheridos al perno del implante, reemplazando uno o más elementos dentales. Además de la parte estética, auxilia en la movilidad y el habla, favoreciendo la calidad de vida del individuo. En lo que respecta al implante dental, los criterios para un contorno de tejido blando sostenible y saludable son una prótesis que proporcione resistencia mecánica y permanezca estéticamente agradable. La búsqueda de la estética en la rehabilitación del reborde edéntulo se ha convertido en un desafío para los odontólogos, ante la progresiva reabsorción del hueso alveolar, interfiriendo en el resultado estético y funcional. Consideraciones finales: La prótesis implantosoportada es un procedimiento restaurador seguro, efectivo y funcional y estético, si se indica y realiza correctamente, sin embargo, es necesario informar a los pacientes de las ventajas y desventajas que tiene el procedimiento.
