Abstract

Objective: To analyze the presence and approach of the Transversal Contemporary Themes (TCT) in the Pedagogical Course Projects (PPC) of Health-related courses at Federal Universities in the Northern Region of Brazil. The TCT is a strategy by the Ministry of Education to promote a more integrative and transversal approach to knowledge. Methods: This article is a systematic study of Document Analysis (DA) based on research conducted in February 2024, with data sourced from the websites of Federal Universities in the Northern Region through the application of a checklist. Results: A total of 26 courses from 7 universities were evaluated. It was observed a 15-year gap between the oldest and the most recent PPC, as well as a 720-hour difference in Complementary Activity workloads. Regarding the TCT, there was little application of these themes in the curricular matrices. However, the most prevalent themes, though not present in all PPCs, were those naturally related to the health field, such as Health; Interdisciplinarity; Environment; Science and Technology; and Ethics and Diversity. Conclusion: Thus, there is a clear need for updating many of the analyzed PPCs to more comprehensively include the guidelines of the TCT.
