Abstract
Objective: To promote the teaching of Biology through active methodologies, using the elaboration and display of scientific banners as a strategy to integrate research, scientific communication and social responsibility. The project aimed to develop students' skills of scientific literacy, critical thinking and ethical awareness, through the investigation of respiratory diseases and sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Experience report: The proposal involved 65 students from the 2nd and 3rd grades of High School, who researched public health topics and produced banners following ABNT standards. The stages included guided research, organization of information and presentation in an open educational circuit to the school community. The activity favored the contextualization of biological contents, stimulated intellectual autonomy and improved skills such as oral communication, selection of evidence and appropriate use of scientific language. High student engagement was observed, in addition to the development of socio-emotional skills, such as collaboration, responsibility and empathy. Final considerations: The experience showed that banner display is an effective strategy to promote meaningful learning, critical thinking and student protagonism. By articulating research, scientific production and socialization of knowledge, the project contributed to the scientific and civic education of students, strengthening the bond between school, science and community.
