Abstract
Objective: To analyze the occurrence of risk for Burnout Syndrome among nurses and nursing technicians working in a university hospital. Methods: A cross-sectional, quantitative study was conducted with 60 nursing professionals at a University Hospital located in Belém, in the state of Pará. Data collection was performed using a sociodemographic and occupational questionnaire and validated for the Brazilian context, Maslach Burnout Inventory to assess the dimensions of emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and professional achievement. The study involved 30 nurses and 30 technicians, selected by convenience. Data analysis was conducted using simple descriptive statistics. Results: A higher proportion of high risk for Burnout Syndrome was identified among nurses (40%), while nursing technicians predominantly presented moderate risk levels (43%). Work overload, lack of recognition, multiple employment relationships, inadequate working conditions, and length of professional experience were observed as contributing factors. Conclusion: Burnout Syndrome was found to be prevalent among the professionals evaluated, highlighting the significant impact of working conditions on mental health. These findings reinforce the importance of implementing institutional strategies focused on prevention, mental health promotion, and improvement of organizational and psychosocial working conditions in the hospital environment.
