La escala Full Outline Of UnResponsiveness y sus desafíos de implementación: revisión integradora

Resumen

Objetivo: Comprender a través de la literatura científica los desafíos para la implementación de la Escala Full Outline of UnResponsiveness en la evaluación del nivel de conciencia de adultos y ancianos en un ambiente hospitalario. Métodos: Revisión integradora realizada en julio de 2022, en las fuentes: US National Library of Medicine National Institutes Database Search of Health, SciVerse Scopus, Embase, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature, Web of Science y Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences. Se utilizó el programa Rayyan para la selección de los estudios y el Análisis de Contenido. Resultados: Se identificaron 937 estudios, de los cuales ocho conformaron la muestra final. Se enumeraron seis desafíos, a saber: dificultad para establecer procedimientos que reduzcan las tasas de mortalidad, para adherirse a la escala completa de falta de respuesta, para establecer una evaluación eficaz de la respuesta pupilar a la luz en pacientes con patologías oculares, para evaluar de manera confiable a los pacientes inquietos que lo necesitan de la sedación, en la realización de una evaluación eficaz y fiable del diámetro pupilar y del patrón respiratorio de los pacientes afectados por intoxicaciones medicamentosas, así como de los reflejos tusígenos de los pacientes de edad avanzada. Consideraciones finales: Los desafíos demuestran que la Escala Full Outline of UnResponsiveness presenta algunas debilidades que deben ser superadas a partir del desarrollo de nuevos estudios que sean capaces de proponer comportamientos que minimicen los desafíos para la implementación de esta escala.
