Resumen

Today, patient safety is considered essential in the training of health professionals, with the potential to revolutionize the way institutions provide services to their users. The present study is a bibliographic review that aims to offer a theoretical basis on the importance of continuing education in health, as a tool for patient safety in health institutions. Active methodology was adopted as a tool for this purpose, which has shown to have a positive impact on health work, providing greater involvement of professionals and favoring both knowledge and mastery of safety issues. It is necessary to train and support health professionals to identify and use evidence-based practices and the active methodology is a tool perfectly consistent with this, in addition, new interventions and approaches have contributed to the advancement of knowledge and the qualification of safe practices and the dissemination of culture patient safety.
