Abstract
Objective: A case of colorectal cancer diagnosed in a pregnant woman in the first trimester of pregnancy, prevalence in the general population and possible clinical-surgical management, since this condition is rare and presents several dilemmas given the particularities, both of maternal prognosis and fetal. Case details: 33-year-old patient with a pregnancy of 18 weeks and 5 days with intestinal constipation for 10 days, refractory to clinical measures, to commitment to diagnostic evaluation due to an obstructive acute abdomen, with colonoscopy showing a neoplastic colorectal lesion. Surgical treatment with resection of the lesion was chosen and pathology revealed rectal adenocarcinoma with implants in pericolic fat. After the procedure, fetal vitality was assessed through obstetric ultrasound with a live fetus and estimated weight of 246g. Final considerations: Particularizing the diagnosis of colorectal carcinoma in pregnant women is the key to managing such a clinical condition, given that in early pregnancies (up to 20 weeks) therapy is carried out in the same way as a non-pregnant woman. In the second half of pregnancy, the fetal prognosis and its resolution should be discussed with a view to achieving a better maternal-fetal prognosis, with a focus on starting carcinoma treatment as soon as possible.
