Abstract
Objective: Qualitatively describe the experience of medical students with the use of podcasts as an extracurricular teaching tool in Elderly Health. Methods: This is a cross-sectional and descriptive research, carried out at the Center for Biological and Health Sciences of the University of the State of Pará, in a population of 67 medical students, who were attending the elderly health module. Students answered an online questionnaire after listening to episodes of the podcast created for the research. The study was approved by the Research Ethics Committee of the institution. Results: This survey showed that most students were facing their first experience with this type of media, with a very positive impact on their learning. The relaxed and innovative technology facilitated the adherence of the students to listening to the content, who considered that the podcast could be used to produce their own study materials, for revisions, to improve the doctor-patient relationship and to learn in a multitasking context. Conclusion: Exploring this type of media within the academic environment has the potential to contribute to student’s upgrading. New research is needed on the best methodological processes for creating, producing and distributing content.
