Abstract
Objectives: To review in the literature the oxidative damages resulting from the practice of exacerbated physical exercise, as well as to direct the reduction of the effects related to the production of free radicals through the diet. Method: Data collection was carried out through consultations in articles, databases of the virtual library Pubmed, Scielo, Lilacs, and Descriptors in Health Science (DeCS). Result: Physical activity performed in a regular and moderate manner promotes benefits to organic systems; however, if practiced exacerbated, it can generate damages associated with oxidative stress, increasing the formation of free radicals. Conclusion: The consumption of antioxidant substances in the diet is essential to those practicing intense physical activity in the fight against free radical damage, such as early aging.
