Sequelae of Covid-19 and the role of physiotherapy in patient rehabilitation

Abstract
Objective: To present the main sequelae caused by Covid-19, showing the importance of physical therapy in the rehabilitation of individuals affected by these changes. Bibliographic review: When searching the databases, it was identified that people affected by the virus developed several sequelae that caused musculoskeletal limitations, reduced cardiorespiratory capacity, complications in the kidneys, liver, gastrointestinal system, central nervous system, cardiovascular and cognitive impairment. The disease affects the body in a systemic way, causing various damages to the body. Physiotherapy proved to be effective in the rehabilitation of patients, being effective to assist in the recovery and performance of daily activities. Any unique clinical profile as well as post-Covid sequelae in individuals affected by the omicron variant will be gradually determined. Receiving two doses of the vaccine was associated with lower risks for most sequelae and complication outcomes, especially in young patients. Final considerations: Several sequelae in various body systems were detected after SARS-CoV-2 infection, these can interfere with an individual's quality of life. Physiotherapeutic rehabilitation played a fundamental role in the rehabilitation of individuals who presented sequelae of Covid-19, showing the need to search for professionals and their appreciation.
