Toracotomia de reanimação: uma revisão narrativa

Resumo
Objetivo: Descrever a técnica de toracotomia de reanimação, suas indicações e reunir informações de estudos sobre sua realização, para fornecer dados baseados em evidências e auxiliar os cirurgiões gerais e médicos de pronto-socorro em sua tomada de decisão sobre o uso dessa técnica. Revisão bibliográfica: Os resultados demonstraram que a toracotomia de reanimação é útil para salvar vidas, mas é concebível apenas para pacientes que sofrem de trauma grave (especialmente os penetrantes) com parada cardíaca in extremis. Por esse tipo de trauma ser uma situação extrema de emergência, necessitando de um procedimento que precisa ser realizado de imediato, a toracotomia de reanimação comumente é realizada fora do centro cirúrgico, e nem sempre há um cirurgião geral disponível na emergência. Considerações finais: Assim, esse estudo alerta para que hospitais que recebem pacientes de emergência após um trauma realize treinamento e capacitação de seus profissionais para receber esses pacientes, visto que podem necessitar de uma toracotomia de reanimação, que pode ser a diferença entre a vida e a morte para esses pacientes.
