Resumo
Objetivo: Analisar as características da Pancreatite Crônica (PC). Revisão bibliográfica: A pancreatite crônica (PC) é uma doença caracterizada por uma síndrome de sintomas e manifestações clínicas relacionadas a anormalidades funcionais que se desenvolve como resultado de fibrose e atrofia glandular relacionadas à inflamação aguda e crônica. As funções exócrinas e endócrinas são perdidas, muitas vezes levando à dor crônica que é o principal sintoma. Sua prevalência é geralmente estimada em 30-50 por 100.000 indivíduos globalmente. A etiologia é multifatorial, embora a PC ocorra mais comumente devido a insultos ambientais, com risco aumentado em pacientes com predisposição genética ou anatômica. Considerações finais: A pancreatite crônica é um processo fibro-inflamatório progressivo no pâncreas que causa danos estruturais permanentes e leva a uma deterioração da função exócrina e endócrina. A dor é o problema clínico mais importante na pancreatite crônica, ocorrendo em 80% a 90% dos pacientes, sendo muitas vezes incapacitante. Seu manejo é realizado com analgésicos não opióides e opióides, sendo o tratamento endoscópico e cirúrgico reservado aos pacientes cuja terapêutica farmacológica falhou.
