Manifestaciones asociadas a la infección por COVID-19 en gestantes: una revisión narrativa

Resumen

Objetivo: Evaluar, a través de una revisión, las consecuencias de la infección por COVID-19 en mujeres embarazadas. Revisión bibliográfica: La infección por coronavirus 19 (COVID-19) es una patología emergente que se identificó por primera vez en diciembre de 2019, en China. El COVID-19 tiene un alto potencial de morbilidad, mortalidad y transmisión, afectando a personas de diferentes edades y condiciones clínicas, incluidas las mujeres embarazadas. Las manifestaciones clínicas pueden variar desde casos asintomáticos hasta casos más graves, e incluso pueden conducir a insuficiencia orgánica y sepsis. La mayoría de las mujeres embarazadas solo presentan síntomas gripales o fiebre, siendo este síntoma predominante, pero no siempre manifestado antes del nacimiento del bebé. El curso de la enfermedad generalmente no presenta complicaciones y la paciente es dada de alta del hospital a los pocos días de la concepción. Sin embargo, las complicaciones sistémicas y la necesidad de estancias hospitalarias más prolongadas se asociaron con el embarazo. Consideraciones finales: Los resultados son muy variables, van desde síntomas simples como fiebre, dolor de cabeza y tos, hasta otros más grandes y graves como neumonía severa, SDRA e incluso la muerte.
