Abstract

Objective: To understand the feelings experienced by mothers during the hospitalization of their children in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (UTIP) of the Regional Hospital of Cacoal. Methods: An exploratory and descriptive study was carried out, using methods of bibliographical and field research, with a qualitative approach. In order to understand the feelings of the mothers, the instrument used was the interview, whose data collection was by means of recording using electronic devices. with open questions. The population of this research consisted of mothers over the age of 18, who had children hospitalized at the UTIP. Transcripts of the responses were performed and analyzed. Results: After analyzing the collected data, it was concluded that the mothers' need to talk about feelings about their children's hospitalization, the fact that they are heard, can act in a therapeutic way for these mothers, in order to mention them the relief felt after the interview. Conclusion: The realization of this study made it possible to understand the feelings experienced by the mothers during the hospitalization of the children in the UTIP. It was revealed through the discourses of the mothers, that various feelings were experienced by them, such as sadness, pain, despair, fear, anguish and sense of loss.
