Doença celíaca: etiologia e relação com ansiedade e depressão

Resumo

Objetivo: Avaliar a etiologia da doença celíaca, assim como a prevalência de pacientes celíacos com diagnóstico de ansiedade e depressão. Revisão Bibliográfica: Pesquisas apontam que a doença celíaca apresenta tanto sintomas clássicos intestinais como sintomas não clássicos, ou extraintestinais, incluindo anemia ferropriva, fadiga e cefaleia/distúrbios psiquiátricos, entre outros. Devido à falta de conhecimento dessas diversas manifestações atípicas, podem ocorrer atrasos no diagnóstico, levando a diminuição da qualidade de vida dos pacientes. Além disso, a dieta livre de glúten e o estilo de vida mais restritivo também podem ser fatores contribuintes para o desenvolvimento de ansiedade e depressão, devido a sensações de privação e de evasão social, podendo comprometer o relacionamento interpessoal desses indivíduos. Considerações finais: O único tratamento é uma dieta isenta de glúten, o que pode comprometer a absorção de nutrientes essenciais, e favorecer o aparecimento de sintomas psiquiátricos, colaborando para uma relação positiva entre a doença celíaca e o desenvolvimento de ansiedade e depressão.
