Eficácia e barreiras da Profilaxia Pré-Exposição (PrEP) como estratégia de prevenção ao HIV

Resumo
Objetivo: Descrever, por meio da literatura, as potencialidades e complicações da profilaxia pré-exposição (PrEP) como estratégia de prevenção ao HIV. Métodos: Trata-se de uma revisão integrativa. A busca bibliográfica ocorreu nas bases: Biblioteca Virtual de Saúde (BVS), Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO) e Public Medline (PubMed). Descritores foram utilizados para as buscas, usando os operadores AND e OR. Os critérios de inclusão foram: publicações de qualquer período, disponíveis na íntegra e gratuitamente, nos idiomas português, inglês ou espanhol. Resultados: Revisão composta por oito artigos. A literatura aponta que a profilaxia é eficaz e segura, contudo, ressalta-se que existem inúmeras variáveis que devem ser consideradas como: acesso aos medicamentos, adesão adequada, grupo-alvo, efeitos colaterais etc. Foram identificadas diversas barreiras para melhor disseminação e implementação da PrEP tais como: dificuldade de acesso, falta de conhecimento profissional, falta de informação, efeitos colaterais de curto e longo prazo, falta de estudos clínicos realizados com outros grupos-alvo e estigmas e preconceitos. Considerações finais: As dificuldades e desafios evidenciados pela presente revisão podem e devem ser superados a fim de garantir uma maior disseminação e adoção da PrEP.
