The impactos of eletronic cigarrette use and its risks to the pulmonar system
Main Article Content
Abstract
Objective: To elucidate the main impacts caused on the pulmonary system by the use of electronic cigarettes on health. Methods: This is an integrative review in which the following guiding question was used: “What are the impacts caused on the pulmonary system by the use of electronic cigarettes?”. The bibliographic survey was carried out on the BVS, SciELO, LILACS, MEDLINE and PUBMED platforms in March and April 2023, obtaining 101 articles, which after the established criteria, 13 studies were selected. Results: There was a predominance of pulmonary diseases, such as acute eosinophilic pneumonia, hypersensitivity pneumonitis and diffuse alveolar hemorrhage. Currently, a relationship has been observed between the use of e-cigs, which constitutes a new disease called EVALI, which addressed specific diagnostic characteristics, in which lung damage induced by electronic devices causes symptoms such as: cough, shortness of breath and hemoptysis. Final considerations: Although there are few literary approaches and studies under development regarding the use of electronic cigarettes, the damage caused by the use of these devices and the pathological organic changes they can cause is evident.
