Resumo

Objetivo: Descrever as características da doença do refluxo gastroesofágico (DRGE), a fim de diagnosticar e tratar os pacientes portadores dessa enfermidade. Revisão bibliográfica: A DRGE é definida como o refluxo anormal do conteúdo gástrico para o esôfago, causando lesão da mucosa esofágica e/ou sintomas de refluxo. A sintomatologia é bastante variável, subdividida em sintomas típicos e atípicos, mas destacam-se clinicamente os sintomas típicos de pirose e regurgitação. Em relação à fisiopatologia, a DRGE é caracterizada por ser uma doença multifatorial e associada à diversos fatores de risco. A complicação mais importante é o esôfago de Barrett. Considerações finais: A DRGE constitui a principal enfermidade presente nos ambulatórios de gastroenterologia. É diagnosticada através de manifestações clínicas, no entanto, alguns exames também podem auxiliar no diagnóstico: endoscopia digestiva alta (EDA), pH esofágico de 24 horas e impedância da mucosa esofágica. Por se tratar de uma doença multifatorial, seu manejo está voltado para modificações nos hábitos de vida, tratamento farmacológico e, em alguns casos, intervenções mais invasivas. Com isso, é de suma importância o conhecimento acerca da DRGE para que o profissional, ao se deparar com a doença, realize o correto manejo, evitando complicações e piores desfechos.
