Abstract

Objective: To analyze the experience of medical students as class representatives of a Medical School in Belém – Pará. Case detail / Experience report: The construction of the report was analyzing the period of 2 years of several class representatives during various periods (semesters) of the medical course of a University Center in Belém - Pará. The experience of class representation develops the hidden curriculum, learns about planning and execution of actions, leadership of team and mediation of conflicts. The role of representative is neglected by the students being little sought after as extracurricular activity and therefore, little research is developed in the area. However, the student with such position develops the oculus curriculum (parallel curriculum), becoming a representative figure for course coordination and developing necessary and important skills for future professional management. Final considerations: Participation as a class representative during medical graduation develops leadership skills, organizational sense and group management, and it is necessary to develop future research in the area in order to improve the quality of education provided and the management of people.
