Main Article Content
Abstract
Objective: To reflect on health education actions to promote the self-esteem of elementary school students. Experience report: Experience report: This is an experience report prepared by a group of students from the third year of the Nursing undergraduate course at a university in western Paraná, regarding a health education project for elementary school students, which was carried out in a large city’s municipal school in southern Brazil. A total of 44 children aged 9 to 11 years participated in the health education action, demonstrating active participation throughout the activity, including verbal-dialogue presentations, dynamics, videos, and evaluations. The majority of the students evaluated the health education action positively, expressing improvement in their knowledge of self-esteem. Conclusion: Approaching self-esteem with elementary school students through health education is a powerful tool for its enhancement, and it should be a recurring theme explored by the healthcare team in the community. In this sense, students’ engagement in health education facilitates a connection between theory and practice that contributes to their professional development.
