O papel da atividade física na saúde mental durante a pandemia da COVID-19

Resumo

Objetivo: Analisar a influência da atividade física, na saúde mental dos indivíduos, durante a pandemia da COVID-19. Revisão bibliográfica: O ano de 2020 foi marcado pelo surgimento do vírus SARS-CoV-2, responsável pela pandemia da COVID-19, gerando diversos impactos deletérios para a saúde física e mental, além de causar desdobramentos socioeconômicos negativos. O isolamento social foi instituído para conter a disseminação da doença, contribuindo para a eclosão e/ou agravamento de transtornos mentais, como ansiedade e depressão. A atividade física regular tem sido demonstrada ao longo do tempo como uma importante estratégia para a prevenção de inúmeras doenças. Da mesma forma, durante a pandemia da COVID-19, exerceu possivelmente um papel protetivo na saúde física e mental. Considerações finais: A atividade física é de suma importância para prevenção, manutenção, melhora da saúde física e mental; adicionalmente, fatores como: intensidade e frequência do exercício, sexo, idade, adesão ao isolamento social, autopercepção do estresse e do bem-estar, podem ter influência nos desfechos de saúde mental.
