Práticas e mecanismos fisiológicos da ação da espiritualidade na saúde mental

Resumo

Objetivo: Analisar os efeitos fisiológicos de práticas relacionadas a espiritualidade na saúde mental dos indivíduos. Revisão bibliográfica: Espiritualidade pode ser definida como uma busca pessoal por respostas sobre a vida, sobre propósito, envolvendo crenças, práticas e experiências que afetam o bem-estar global do indivíduo, além de aspectos existenciais e transcendentais, indo além das fronteiras religiosas tradicionais. É descrito que práticas espirituais desempenham papel significativo na saúde mental dos indivíduos. Desta forma, faz-se necessário compreender como estas práticas agem no organismo, favorecendo o bem-estar físico e mental. A psiconeuroimunologia e a epigenética são áreas de estudo que favorecem este entendimento ao demonstrar os mecanismos fisiológicos envolvidos neste processo de adoecimento e cura. Psiconeuroimunologia estuda as interações bidirecionais e complexas entre os sistemas nervoso, endocrinológico e imunológico. Epigenética estuda os mecanismos de controle e expressão do material genético do indivíduo a partir de agentes externos. Considerações finais: Embora haja evidências científicas que associam espiritualidade à saúde mental, destacando alterações fisiológicas resultantes dessas práticas, elas ainda são pouco aplicadas no contexto clínico. Este estudo visa estimular a discussão sobre o tema, incentivar a realização de ensaios clínicos mais rigorosos e promover práticas que favoreçam a harmonia orgânica e mental dos indivíduos.
