Avulsão dentária como um dos traumatismos durante a prática esportiva de alto impacto

Resumo
Objetivo: Avaliar a prevalência de avulsões dentárias na prática esportiva e investigar o conhecimento de atletas e treinadores sobre o manejo desse trauma. Métodos: Realizou-se uma revisão integrativa com busca nas bases de dados PubMed, DOAJ e BVS, utilizando-se descritores: “tooth avulsion, dental trauma, sport, football, baseball, snowboard, volleyball, hockey, basketball" com o operador booleano AND. Critérios de inclusão: publicações entre 2014 e 2024 apresentando descritores no resumo e título; trabalhos em inglês, português, espanhol; estudos em humanos; estudos clínicos randomizados, de coorte e relatos de casos clínicos. Resultados: Foram recuperados 155 estudos. Após remoção das duplicatas, foram analisados títulos, resumos e idioma dos estudos e 90 foram excluídos. 17 estudos foram elegíveis, lidos na íntegra e incluídos. Considerações finais: Avulsão é um dos traumas dentários mais prevalentes entre atletas e treinadores de esportes de alto e médio risco; fatores anatômicos (overjet, má oclusão classe II divisão 1 de Angle e cobertura labial inadequada) predispõem à ocorrência de trauma; treinadores e atletas demonstram conhecimento limitado no manejo imediato e tardio de dentes traumatizados; reabsorção radicular inflamatória, anquilose, infraoclusão, necrose pulpar e necessidade de extração são complicações comuns em dentes avulsionados.
