Evaluation of the clinical profile of patients with Systemic Arterial Hypertension registered in the National Program for Hypertension and Diabetes Mellitus (HIPERDIA)

Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the clinical profile of users with Systemic Arterial Hypertension (SAH) registered in the National Program for Arterial Hypertension and Diabetes Mellitus (HIPERDIA). Methods: This is a descriptive, documentary research with a quantitative approach, from the analysis of 85 medical records for the period 2010 to 2018 of patients registered in the HYPERDIA of a Family Health Strategy (FHS) located in a small town the state of Espírito Santo. Results: The male population had a higher average weight and height; in both sample groups, there was a predominance of patients with waist circumference (WC) above that recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO); there was a predominance of subjects with a body mass index (BMI) above expectations, especially in the female group; the approach to health care of patients with SAH in the studied city has occurred in a multiprofessional perspective. Conclusion: It was possible to conclude that the male sample had a higher average weight and height, and that both groups of participants had WC above that recommended by WHO, and with a BMI above expected. It is concluded that many of the interviewees were referred to the cardiologist and nutritionist.
