Abstract

Objectives: Thus, the subject of the present study is the biomarkers in inflammatory bowel disease. The objective of this study was to treat fecal inflammatory biomarkers, which, in combination with those currently available in clinical practice, could significantly improve the assessment of patients with IBD. Methods: This is a bibliographical research, of a qualitative nature, carried out through books, academic articles and specialized journals on the chosen theme. Results: By definition it is established that biomarker is a characteristic that is measured and evaluated objectively as an indicator of a normal biological process, a pathological process, or pharmacological response to a therapeutic intervention. Conclusion: Currently, some biomarkers, including serological tests and fecal markers, are being used in medical practice to assess disease activity and diagnosis of inflammatory bowel diseases.
