Abstract

Objective: To trace the clinical and epidemiological profile of congenital syphilis in Anápolis, Goiás - Brazil. Methods: Epidemiological, descriptive and cross-sectional study of a quantitative nature. Data from the congenital syphilis notification form registered with the Epidemiological Surveillance of the municipality between the years 2010 to 2017 were used. Descriptive statistical analysis was used with relative and absolute frequency. Results: There was an increase in cases of the disease. 154 cases of congenital syphilis were reported, with women between the age group of 20 and 34 years (63.6%), with mixed race (79.2%) and with incomplete / complete high school (52.6%). Most pregnant women received prenatal care (82.4%). Regarding the treatment of congenital syphilis, only 25.3% was adequate. Only 35.7% of the partners of the pregnant women received treatment. Conclusion: Although measures have been implemented to reduce the number of cases of the disease, the clinical and epidemiological profile during the period considered is worrying. Even though prenatal care was performed in most cases, most of the occurrences of the disease were in mothers with less schooling. Most of the treatments were inadequate and many mothers' partners were not treated, thus having challenges regarding health education and adequate treatment.
